The Ford F-Series pickup has been America’s best-selling pickup for 39 consecutive years and in 2015 alone more than 780,000 of them rolled out of dealer showrooms.1 When combined with the sales of GM, FCA-Ram, Toyota, Nissan, and others you begin to grasp the market for truck parts and accessories. It’s huge. Tens of millions of pickup trucks are on the road today and because we use these vehicles for work and play, things break, presenting an opportunity to upgrade with sturdier components.
The industry is well aware of this, in fact the major vehicle manufacturers have each made a concerted effort to chip away at the aftermarket industry by providing their own branded upgrade parts. Sometimes those “original equipment” vehicle manufacturers like Ford or FCA-Jeep have their own engineers performing research and development on upgraded components, and other times the OEs will simply private label an existing aftermarket enhancement from a third party like Warn or Camburg. Either way, manufacturers of replacement parts for full-size, mid-size, and compact pickup trucks were demonstrating this week that they can stay ahead of the OEs and deliver what customers want.
Here are some of the trucks on display at SEMA 2016.
